CoverScreen OS offers a comprehensive set of features that go beyond a mere cover launcher, aiming to simulate a secondary operating system on compatible devices, including Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Z Flip 4, Z Flip 5, Moto RAZR 40 +/Ultra, Vivo X Flip, OPPO Find N2 Flip, and N3 Flip's cover screens. It sets itself apart from original equipment manufacturer (OEM) alternatives like Good Lock. The app provides functionalities such as an app launcher, caller ID screen for VoIP apps (specifically for the Z Flip series at present), support for third-party app widgets on the homescreen, quick toggles, navigation gestures, a powerful media screen with advanced controls, notification handling with reply options, keyboard support, and more.
A notable feature of CoverScreen OS is the unique navigation system that allows users to seamlessly access both the CoverScreen OS and the OEM's stock OS. The detailed features include the ability to launch apps on the cover screen with options for portrait or landscape orientation, streamlined app searching and sorting capabilities, an interface for adding widgets tailored to the cover screen layout, customization options for clock faces, quick toggle settings for various functions like Bluetooth and Flex Mode exclusive to the Z Flip series, notification management with response actions, and a dedicated media playback screen with theme support.
The app also introduces Edge Lighting notifications for Z Flip devices, providing visual feedback similar to conventional LED notifications. Its Flex Mode enables users to utilize the cover screen with full access to CoverScreen OS functionalities when the phone is unfolded. To utilize these features efficiently, CoverScreen OS requires sensitive permissions such as Notification Access and Accessibility Service to enhance user interactions without compromising on data privacy.
